Adivasi Medical Research Organization, Chaibasa, Jharkhand
Adivasi Medical Research Organization (AMRC) is based in Tantnagar Block, in Chaibasa, Jharkhand. ADN has partnered with AMRC to train 20 out-of-school at-risk youth to answer their 10th grade exams. In West Singhbhum, the district in which AMRC operates, literacy rates for Adivasi men is 42% and for Adivasi Women it is only 14%. In data reported by Jharkhand Education Project Council, children were out of school in this district because their parents wanted them to be engaged in household work or earn money outside the house. Other children were out of school because their families were either displaced or had migrated.
In our partnership with AMRC we are working with 20 youth who are at risk of being in poverty for the rest of their lives. Without having completed 10th grade education they find it increasingly difficult to find employment. AMRC is training them to answer their 10th grad exams.
